At first I was extremely reticent, being the grouchy bollocks that I can so often be, but then relented and what a good choice that was. We arrived in the door of the place as the dj, a young lady named Corinne (
Corrine), was playing Crystal Waters' "100% Pure Love," no not "Gypsy Woman," this one was a later club smash also on a decidedly NY garage tip. Was Corinne being ironic, was it a case of burgeoning '90s revivalist notions beginning to well up among the young team, or maybe she just liked the song? We'll never know, but I'm a bit partial to early '90s NY garage myself so it was nice to hear some skippy beats and slicing hi hats as you enter a party with promise.
A good turnout on a Monday, thanks to the sterling efforts of DJ Omar and Aaron Axelsen, who were presiding over the event. Omar took the decks next and laid down a schmoove mix of Italo, disco and acidy house music; the perfect accompaniment to Glass Candy's Italo elettro nuanced playlist...."

"On Monday night I took a stroll over to the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco for the after party that followed the Glass Candy/Faint show at the Fillmore. DJ Omar and Aaron Axelsen threw the do and it was a pretty good time by all accounts. A young dj named Corrine was throwing down some jams when myself and my friends walked in, in fact the Crystal Waters song "100% Pure Love," was playing and that's not what I was expecting...."
